Measurements
The wind is always present somewhere on Earth. Wind consists of air movements in the layer of air around the Earth (atmosphere), driven by differences in air pressure caused by differences in temperature. At most locations, KNMI measures wind on a mast at a height of 10 metres. This is not possible at every measurement site due to the surrounding environment, such as nearby buildings or trees that could affect the measurements.
