Air pressure

Air has weight and creates pressure on the Earth's surface. This air pressure varies from place to place. The warmer the air, the lighter its weight and the lower the pressure. Areas of high and low pressure cause flows in the atmosphere and determine the weather. Air pressure is measured with a barometer. In order to compare with other stations, the measured value has been adjusted to mean sea level.
